Generate Products
Automatically create inventory products from your Amazon channel listings using the Generate Products feature.
Generate Products is the fastest way to populate your product catalog in Profit Hawk. It scans all the channel listings synced from your Amazon accounts, groups them by ASIN, and creates one inventory product per unique product. Each listing is automatically linked to its corresponding product.
This is typically one of the first things you do after connecting your Amazon account and waiting for your listings to sync.
What it does
When you run Generate Products, Profit Hawk:
- Groups your channel listings by ASIN. The same product sold on Amazon US, CA, and UK shares the same ASIN. These listings are grouped into a single inventory product.
- Picks an English product name. The product name (nickname) is pulled from your US listing first, then CA, UK, or AU. This ensures the name is readable even if you also sell on non-English marketplaces like Mexico or Germany.
- Sets the SKU. The SKU from the first listing in the group is used as the product's primary SKU.
- Assigns the brand. If your listings have brand information, the brand from an English-language marketplace is preferred.
- Links all matching listings. Every listing in the ASIN group is automatically connected to the new product.
Products created by Generate Products are always set to "Active" status. The status of individual Amazon listings (Buyable, Discoverable, etc.) does not affect the product's status in Profit Hawk.
Running Generate Products
Make sure your listings have synced
After connecting your Amazon account, Profit Hawk syncs your catalog automatically. This usually takes a few minutes. Go to Inventory > Listings to confirm your listings are showing up.
Go to the Products tab
Navigate to Inventory > Products.
Open the Actions menu
Click the Actions dropdown in the top-right corner of the Products table.
Click Generate Products
Select Generate Products. A confirmation dialog appears explaining what will happen.
Confirm
Click Generate. Profit Hawk processes your listings and creates products. When it finishes, you'll see a summary showing how many products were created and how many listings were linked.
Running it more than once
Generate Products is safe to run multiple times. It only creates new products for ASINs that don't already have one. If you add a new Amazon account or marketplace later, run it again to pick up the new listings.
On subsequent runs, it also:
- Links unlinked listings to existing products that share the same ASIN.
- Backfills brand information on existing products that don't have a brand set, if the newly linked listings have brand data.
It never overwrites product names, SKUs, or other settings you've already customized.
After generating products
Once your products are created, you can:
- Review and rename products. Click any product to open it and edit the nickname, SKU, or brand.
- Set up replenishment parameters. Configure MOQ, case quantity, days of stock targets, and lead times for each product.
- Manage listing links. If a listing was grouped incorrectly (rare, but possible with shared ASINs), you can unlink it and reassign it to a different product.
You don't need to rename every product. The auto-generated names come from your English listing titles and work well as defaults. Focus on renaming products where the listing title is too long or not descriptive enough for your internal use.
How product names are chosen
When creating a product, Profit Hawk looks for a listing title in this order:
- United States (amazon.com)
- Canada (amazon.ca)
- United Kingdom (amazon.co.uk)
- Australia (amazon.com.au)
- Any other marketplace (fallback)
This prioritizes English-language titles so your product catalog stays readable. If a product only exists on a non-English marketplace, that title is used as the default, and you can rename it afterward.
