Step 1: Install the Profit Hawk Google Sheets Add-on
Profit Hawk works through a Google Sheets add-on, which you’ll install from the Google Workspace Marketplace. This add-on is what pulls your Amazon data into Google Sheets.
Install the add-on. Click the Install button on the Profit Hawk add-on listing. If you’re a Google Workspace admin and want to make Profit Hawk available to your whole team, you can choose an Admin install (Domain Install) to deploy it to all users. Otherwise, select the individual install for just your account.
Authorize the add-on with your Google account. After clicking install, you’ll be prompted to choose a Google account and grant permissions. Be sure to select the same Google account that you used to sign up for Profit Hawk (the one associated with your Profit Hawk subscription). Click Allow when Google asks for Profit Hawk’s permission scopes.
You might notice that Profit Hawk requests access to your spreadsheets – this is necessary for the add-on to create and update your data in Google Sheets.
Why these permissions? Profit Hawk’s add-on uses these permissions to show up in your Google Sheets and to update your data even when you’re not actively in the spreadsheet tab. This means once everything is set up, Profit Hawk can automatically refresh your data in the background. No more manually exporting CSVs or waiting for complex formulas to recalc every time you open your sheet – Profit Hawk keeps your data current for you!
Continue through the prompts until you see confirmation that the add-on has been installed. Great! You have successfully added Profit Hawk to Google Sheets.
Step 2: Open the Add-on in Google Sheets and Sign In
With the add-on installed, you can now launch it inside Google Sheets and link it to your Profit Hawk account.
Open a new Google Sheet. You can use an existing spreadsheet or create a fresh one. To quickly open a blank spreadsheet, just type
sheet.newin your browser’s address bar and hit Enter – this will create a brand new Google Sheet instantly. (Neat trick, right?)Launch the Profit Hawk add-on sidebar. In your Google Sheet, click Extensions in the menu, then hover Profit Hawk, and select Open Sidebar. This will open the Profit Hawk add-on sidebar on the right side of your spreadsheet.
Sign in via the sidebar. In the Profit Hawk sidebar, you should see a big green “Sign In” button (at the top). Click that. A browser window will open, asking you to log into Profit Hawk. If prompted, choose the Google account that you used during sign-up (your Profit Hawk account email). After a moment, Profit Hawk will authenticate and send you back to your spreadsheet.
Refresh the Google Sheet (if needed). Once the sign-in process completes, the Google Sheet will reopen, but Google doesn't allow the sidebar to open automatically. Please refresh the sheet and re-open the Profit Hawk sidebar (Extensions > Profit Hawk > Open Sidebar). You should now see that you're successfully signed in.
Troubleshooting – Sidebar still says “Sign In”?
If you clicked Sign In and came back to Google Sheets but the add-on still shows a Sign In button after refreshing the sheet, it’s likely a Google account mix-up. This can happen if you have multiple Google accounts signed in on your browser. The add-on may have connected to a different account than intended.
Solution: Click your Google profile icon in the top-right corner of the Sheets window (it might show your initial or photo), and sign out of any extra Google accounts. Ensure that only the account you use for Profit Hawk is active, or at least make that one the default. Then, try the Sign In button in the Profit Hawk sidebar again. After re-authenticating, you should be all set – the sidebar will display the Profit Hawk menu instead of the sign-in prompt.
